Manual
techniques
Manual techniques
include a variety of hands-on treatment to relieve pain and swelling, improve
joint function and movement and to relieve ligament, tendon or muscle
stiffness, and muscle spasm. Techniques include:
- Joint mobilisations/ manipulations
- Soft tissue techniques including
specific soft tissue mobilizations, soft tissue massage, trigger point
release and dry needling
Taping
Taping can be applied
to joints and muscles to improve muscle function, to decrease muscle spasm or
to decrease stress on an injured or weak area.
Electrotherapy
Electrophysical
agents include electrical, magnetic, ultrasonic and light therapy. When
absorbed by cells this energy has an effect on cell behaviour and can decrease
pain and swelling, stimulate muscle contraction and promote healing and repair.
