Diagnostic Imaging

The Diagnostics Imaging Department at the Sports Surgery Clinic (SSC) includes leading diagnostic equipment such as a 64-slice CT scanners, Ultrasound, DEXA, OPG, screening X-Ray and one of the most technologically advanced 3Tesla MRI scanners in the world. All related image guided therapeutic interventions such as targeted joint injections, spinal interventions, radiofrequency ablations and vertebroplasty are supported.

The 3Tesla MRI delivers superior image resolution and quality, supporting a centre of excellence in the assessment and treatment of soft tissue injuries. The SSC enjoys an active research affiliation and clinical sciences agreement with General Electric (GE) ensuring access to all developments in MRI and beyond.

The Diagnostic Imaging Department operates in a fully RIS/PACS integrated environment, ensuring all images are directly relayed to referring physicians. The department is completely film-less and paperless.This helps to support fast turn around time from diagnosis to treatment and rehabilitation. At the SSC, technical and professional quality is maintained by active audit programmes, interval double reading of scans, and direct radio pathological correlation through surgical feedback.

The team of musculo – skeletal Consultant Radiologists provides 24 hour consultant expertise to interpret and report on all of the results of patients scan or X-Rays.

The Diagnostic Imaging Department guarantees same day service. In addition, musculo-skeletal pathologies can be immediately referred in-house to the 21 Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeons and Sports Physicians who form the core Consultant group at the SSC.
