On the 18th June 2025, I received a total knee replacement carried out by Mr Niall Hogan Orthopaedic surgeon.  Prior to this I had reach a point close to immobility. I had to frequently use walking aids on bad days. I am 65 years of age and had been quite active up to 12 months prior to the procedure.

On the morning of the 18th The operation was carried out and following recovery later that afternoon I took some tentative steps using a walker. The next day we covered the room on sticks and on the Friday morning the corridor and simulated stairs. My recovery was such that I was allowed to be discharged and in the intervening weeks have gone from strength to strength. I never required any pain killers in the aftermath or have I ever had a days pain or discomfort since. I am back to normal as I write this. I have completed several 20k cycles and daily 5 to 7 km walks. My operative knee right is comparative to my left in all areas of mobility. I intend to return to swimming and gym this week and am confident I will match my pre op fitness levels lost in the year prior before very long.

To conclude I wish to express my sincere and grateful thanks to Mr Hogan and his staff for such a fantastic job that has given me back a new lease of life.
