Dr Aine O’Gara is a Consultant in Pain Medicine and Anaesthesia at St James’s Hospital, Dublin, where she provides comprehensive, patient-centred care for people with chronic and complex pain. Appointed to her consultant role in 2020, she combines expertise in both anaesthesia and pain medicine to deliver multimodal, evidence-based treatment plans, with a particular emphasis on interventional pain therapies.
Dr O’Gara completed fellowship training in Pain Medicine and Trauma Anaesthesiology and has developed a special interest in spinal and musculoskeletal pain, as well as cancer-related pain. She has been a member of the Faculty of Pain Medicine since 2022 and serves as a Clinical Senior Lecturer with Trinity College Dublin. Her practice focuses on minimally invasive procedures, functional rehabilitation, and close collaboration with multidisciplinary teams to optimise patients’ quality of life.
